We
will start ISAT testing this week. I am still looking for some
healthy snacks to provide the children. If you would like to send
something in this coming week, that would be very helpful. Some
ideas I have are granola bars, fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers,
etc. Please, no nuts!! There are 26 students in the class and
thank you!
Our
tests will begin on Tuesday. Please make sure your child gets a good
night's sleep each and every night and a good, healthy breakfast in the
mornings. Encourage your child to do his/her best but try not to
pressure them either. We have been preparing for a long time and I
think they are ready.
Coming
up next week:
Spelling: Lesson 17. Pretest on Monday. Everyone will do the cursive HW, due Tuesday. Challenge folks will do 1 activity, due Thursday. Non-challenge will work on ABC order, also due Thursday. Those people will take the final test on Friday. I'm reigning in the homework a bit this week due to testing.
English: DOL (Daily Oral Language) continues this week. A study guide will go home on Monday regarding a very short quiz on quotation marks on Friday.
Reading: We will be working in our Coach books to prepare for ISAT exams. We will also continue reading Stone Fox. There will be activities that go along with this novel which mostly reinforce vocabulary and comprehension skills. There will be a vocabulary quiz on Wednesday covering words from chapters 1-4. The words are in the learning logs.
Science:
Continuing chapter 10 this week, not sure how far we will get due to
our testing.
Mrs.
Klacza's Math Class:
My math students will be taking their ISAT tests with me this week.
In between tests, we will be working in our Coach workbooks and
studying chapter 22 on volume and perimeter. Tentative test date for
chapters 16 & 22 is Monday, March 11. We'll be taking a break from division facts until ISAT testing is completed.
