Week of 1/29/18 - 2/2/18

Happy Friday! We'll be starting a 5 week session of Junior Achievement on Wednesday.  Mr. Dan Blocker will be coming in to teach our third graders.  He is an awesome volunteer and we are always so pleased to invite him into our third grade world.  


Coming Up Next Week:


Spelling:   I hope my students are completing their three assignments on
their spelling menus!!   They will be due on or before Friday.


Reading & Language Arts:  Continuing with our culture unit, we will continue
the research for our country of choice.  We will then start typing
our papers!


Keep reading daily and filling in the January Log!   It will be due on
or before February 1.


Social Science: We will finish chapter 3 in Social Studies this week.
It focuses on people moving to new places and various cultures.  
There will be short, open book, open notes graded reviews after
each section/lesson in the chapter. This coming week, the students will
take a short graded review on Lesson 4 (open notes, open book.)  
The test for Chapter 3 will be on Thursday.  A study guide will go
Home on Monday.


Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  This week we continue our next unit (5) on
Multiplication, Division, and Area. Our first checkpoint quiz will be on
Friday. On Wednesday, students will take their X10 quiz.


Important Dates:  
2/1   - Early Dismissal (11:00)
2/14 - Valentine’s day celebration

Week of 1/22/18 - 1/26/18

Happy Friday! Congratulations and good luck to Niko and Hudson who will both represent our class in the grade level spelling bee on Wednesday. I am very proud of all my spellers! As we inch our way to February, please make sure you are checking your child’s grades online frequently. We are halfway through the year already; it’s so hard to believe!


Our Culture Day research will be starting next week. Please help your child pick a culture they can research, write about, and present.  It should be a culture that represents your family!  There will be more information coming as the dates for presentations get closer.

before 2/2.

Week of 1/15/18 -1/19/18

We have had some crazy weather so far in 2018! Please make sure your child is prepared for whatever is forecasted that day. Now let’s get through the rest of January!! Before you know it, we’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day!!

We celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday on Monday.  We talked about this great, peaceful man today and watched Our Friend Martin. Ask your child about it!  Enjoy your 3-day weekend in his honor!

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling:   The three spelling homework activities will be due on or before Friday, 1/19.  The test will also occur on that day.

Reading & Language Arts:  Continuing with our culture unit, we will be reading and discussing The Matchbox Diary.  I will be asking each student to bring in something small from home that represents them (that could basically fit into a small box.)   We’ll discuss that on Wednesday and it will be due in on Thursday.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  A pretest/study guide will be going home today.  It will be due back on Wednesday, 1/17.  The unit 4 test will be on Thursday, 1/18.  Remind your children that it’s never a bad idea to practice math facts.  We have started our times table tests.  Today the students also received a x3 practice sheet.  I’ll be quizzing them on their 3 facts on Wednesday.  Retake will be on Friday.
