Week of 1/22/18 - 1/26/18

Happy Friday! Congratulations and good luck to Niko and Hudson who will both represent our class in the grade level spelling bee on Wednesday. I am very proud of all my spellers! As we inch our way to February, please make sure you are checking your child’s grades online frequently. We are halfway through the year already; it’s so hard to believe!

Our Culture Day research will be starting next week. Please help your child pick a culture they can research, write about, and present.  It should be a culture that represents your family!  There will be more information coming as the dates for presentations get closer.

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling:   New sorts will be going home on Monday.  Homework will be due on or
before 2/2.

Reading & Language Arts:  Continuing with our culture unit, we will
start the research for our country of choice.

Keep reading daily and filling in the January Log!   It will be due on or before
February 1.

Social Science: We will continue chapter 3 in Social Studies this week.
It focuses on people moving to new places and various cultures.  There will be
short, open book, open notes graded reviews after each section/lesson
in the chapter. This coming week, we’ll read lesson 3 on Tuesday and take notes.
On Wednesday, the students will take a short graded review (open notes,
open book.)  We’ll then read Lesson 4 on Friday.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  This week we begin our next unit (5) on Multiplication,
Division, and Area.  We’ll take a pretest on Monday.  On Wednesday,
students will take their X5 quiz.

Important Dates:
2/1   - Early Dismissal (11:00)
2/14 - Valentine’s day celebration

Have a great weekend!!
