Week of 11/3/14 - 11/7/14

I enjoyed sitting down with you all and discussing your fabulous children.  Conference week is tiring, but always interesting and enlightening.
I want to thank the parents who have organized and will run our Halloween party today.   Thank you, also,  to those who will be bringing in yummy treats like sweets and candy!!!   Happy Halloween everyone!   Can’t believe we had some of the “white stuff” falling!
My son will be getting married in the Seattle area on November 8; therefore, I'll be out of school on Friday and the following Monday. They grow up so fast!! Sniff.....
Coming up this week:
Spelling:  No spelling due to the shortened week.

Language Arts:  This week, we’ll continue reading the novel The One and Only Ivan.  Many students have already finished it and I know many of you at home have read it with your children.  What did you think?   I absolutely love the ending.

Please check your child’s assignment notebook nightly regarding homework.  We’ll continue to work with antonyms, homophones, and adjectives as part of our “Daily 5.”

We’ll take a break from our WOW words; however, our DOL quiz will be on Wednesday!

Week of 10/27/14 - 10/31/14

As you probably already know, we are celebrating our first marble party today!   The children have cleaned out the marble jar by behaving beautifully and getting compliments from me and other teachers in the building.  Hurray!!!
Our Zoo trip was wonderful! I'm sure your child told you all about it!!
Halloween is Friday already!! There will be a costume parade at 1:15 around the school (weather permitting) and parties will start at 1:30. I hope you can all come and see the parade – just stand out front and you'll see us!! Students should carry in their costumes on Friday. They cannot wear their costumes to school. Remember, we only have a short time to change and we will be changing in the classroom (one class for boys, another for girls). Please make sure their costumes are suitable for this. Trips to the bathroom are not allowed in order to change. No weapons of any kind are allowed.
Enjoy the beautiful Autumn weekend!
