Culture Day(s) was a huge success!   I so enjoyed hearing all the presentations.  It’s interesting to see how families celebrate their culture!
Happy Valentine’s weekend everyone!   We are having our party this afternoon and a big thank you to all the parents who are participating and who sent in goodies for our students.  I can’t wait!   Happy President’s Day as well!!
I’ve attached some links for the upcoming PARCC testing:   http://nextgen.apps.sparcc.org/la/3-5  (Language Arts)
Coming up this week:
Spelling: There will be no spelling due to the shortened week.

Week of 2/9/15 - 2/13/15

Valentine’s Day is coming!  Thursday, 2/12, we’ll be celebrating with a party in our classroom.  If your child chooses to do so, valentines may be sent in any time before Thursday. Please make sure there is a valentine for every student in the classroom. I'll be sending home a list of students today.  We will distribute them all shortly before the party.  I’m sure our party parents have a lot of fun activities planned!  Those helpers are allowed to come in to the classroom at 1:20 to set up.  There won’t be any school Friday or Monday, 2/16. There is also an early dismissal day on Wednesday.   Enjoy!!
We’ll also be celebrating all of our different cultures this week.  The students signed up for either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday to present their projects.  I’m excited!!
Coming up this week:
Spelling: There will be no spelling due to the shortened week.

Language Arts: We will continue our Traditions unit.  Our stories for the next couple of weeks will be Throw Your Tooth on the Roof and The Matchbox Diary.  The students are truly enjoying our read-aloud book, The Year of the Dog.

We are skipping WOW words this week.

We’ll continue working on prefixes and suffixes for the next few weeks.

Social Studies: We are continuing chapter 3 this week.  Chapter 3 works very well with our language arts unit since it is about people moving from place to place, bringing their culture and traditions with them.  Our Lesson 2 graded review will be on Monday.

Science:  We’ll take a break from science this week.
