Week of 10/2/17 - 10/6/17

Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of September?  The year feels like it is already flying by.  This week we had a blast celebrating Johnny Appleseed’s birthday. The applesauce was delicious!

Lifetouch will be at Prairieview on Tuesday, October 3rd for retakes. If you would like your child's picture retaken, please return the original picture package with your child on or before Oct 3rd (retake day). Lifetouch will re-photograph free of charge and provide you with new pictures in a few weeks. Students who were absent on the original picture day should have received an order form to have their picture taken this Tuesday. Questions? Please call the office at 630-783-5100.

Happy Friday everyone! A note came home yesterday regarding Johnny Appleseed’s birthday on Tuesday, September 26. Please make sure you send your child in with a peeled, cored, sliced apple so we can make our delicious applesauce!   It can be any kind of apple.  The smells in the third grade wing on Tuesday will be amazing!!!!

Please make sure your child is charging his/her Chromebook every night. So many are coming back to school and needing to charge them and it's considered homework!! Thank you!

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling:   Please make sure your child is working on his/her spelling menu activities. They will be due on or before Friday, 9/29. They should complete one activity in each column.  The test will also be on 9/29.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  A pretest is coming home today (in the homework pocket of the binder) and it is due on Tuesday.  This is our study guide.  It pretty much mirrors the test, so I encourage you to go over your child’s answers for accuracy and discussion.  We will go over each and every problem and I will answer any and all questions on Tuesday.  The test for unit 1 will be Thursday.

Happy Friday everyone!   I just want to remind you all to check your child’s assignment notebook (planner) every night and sign it.  We still have some students who are not handing in homework (spelling,) yet the assignments are all clearly written in the planner.  If you need to jot me a quick note, write it in the planner; I check it every day :)

 COMING UP THIS WEEK

Spelling:   A new spelling “sort” and homework menu will be coming home on Monday.  I hope my students are sorting their words and practicing their spelling patterns!  The menu homework will be due on or before 9/29. There were many students that didn’t have the homework that was due today finished.  Please make sure they have it done and turned in on Monday.

Science:   We won’t be starting science yet.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We’ll really be focusing on double digit addition this week.  There are many strategies for this and we’ll be investigating all of them.  I am tentatively looking at Thursday, 9/28, as the date for our Unit 1 assessment.  I’ll keep you up to date on that test.
