Week of 2/29/16 - 3/4/16

Next week is the start of March; in like a lion, out like a lamb…   Next week also ends our 2nd trimester.  Please make sure you check your child’s grades!!
I’m still in need of a parent who would be interested in helping me out by classifying my library?  A few weeks ago, all the students were tested to see what their Fountas and Pinnell reading level was.  That’s been accomplished but now I’d like a parent to find the “F & P” level for each book and mark them all accordingly.  If you could give up a little of your time, maybe one morning or afternoon a week, I would greatly appreciate it!   Email me if you are interested.  You would be trained :)
Coming up next week:
Spelling:   Six spelling activities (2 from each column)  need to be completed by Thursday, 3/3.  The test will be on 3/3 as well.

Reading & Language Arts:  It’s Culture Week!!   Our presentations are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  I can’t wait to learn about your family’s culture!!

We’re wrapping up fiction novels this week during Read to Self.   Students are required to complete a book report as they did with their mystery novels.  These will mostly be done in class during our daily stations. The final products are due on or before Tuesday, March 1.

February reading logs are also due on Tuesday.  March logs will go home on Tuesday.

Social Studies:  We will be continuing our Chicago unit this week.   We’ll focus on the Founding of Chicago.  The first quiz on the information thus far will take place on Tuesday.  Students were given a study guide yesterday and if it's filled out, they may use it on the test.

Science:   We are on hiatus!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We are finished with Unit 5.  Unit 6 starts today.  This unit is on geometry. A letter will be going home today on what to expect. We’ll have our next multiplication “mad minute” on Thursday, 3/3.  It will be on the 10’s.  Start practicing!
