Week of 2/15/16 - 2/19/16

Our Valentine’s Day party will be today. Thank you in advance to Ashley’s mom and Izzy’s mom for running the “show” and to all the parents who sent in treats and supplies.  The kids will have a ball!!  We’ll be distributing our Valentines later today as well.
I hope you all have a wonderful 4 day weekend!!
Coming up next week:
Spelling:   Six spelling activities (2 from each column)  need to be completed by Friday, 2/19.  The test will be on 2/19 as well.

Reading & Language Arts:  This week we read What If You Had Animal Teeth?  Next week we will continue this story by writing our own story!  The students will choose an animal whose teeth they wish they had!!

We’re continuing fiction novels this week during Read to Self.   Students are required to complete a book report as they did with their mystery novels.  These will mostly be done in class during our daily stations. The final products are due on or before March 1.

We started our Pen Pal project with third graders from Dubai!  (Thank you Ms. Weiss.)  My students started the letter writing (totally on chromebooks) with information on our American culture.  It will be interesting to find out how they celebrate the various cultures in the Middle East!

Social Studies:  We will be starting our Chicago unit on Tuesday.   We’ll focus on “What is Chicago?” and the flag of Chicago and its significance.

Science:   We are on hiatus!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We’ll continue Unit 5 on multiplication, division, and area.  We’ll specifically work on division this week.  There will be a short check up quiz on Thursday.  Today, I’ll be testing the students on their x2!  Next Friday we’ll move on to x3!

2/12 & 2/15 - No School (conferences & President’s day)
