Week of 3/4/19 - 3/8/19

Happy March!!  This month is already proving to us the old saying:
"In like a lion...;" let's hope it goes out like a lamb! 

We had a very productive week.  Students were busy finalizing their country reports. Culture Day presentations will begin on Monday.  If your child has
not talked to you about this, you may want to ask them about it.  


Coming Up Next Week:


Spelling: We’ll be taking a short break from spelling for the next 2 weeks
and will focus on prefixes and suffixes!  Students will receive a packet that
Needs to be completed by 3/15.


Reading & Language Arts:  The Culture Day presentations will start
on Monday, and continue through Monday, March 11.  


Social Science: We will continue our Science curriculum, “Amplify.”  We
will also be starting up our Chicago unit very soon!!


Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  This week we continue Unit 5, Multiplication,
Division, and Area.  We’ll focus on area (length X width.) The X12 table
test will be on Wednesday.  A practice sheet will come home Monday.
There will be a checkpoint Quiz on Wednesday.  It will cover division.
On Friday, a study guide (pretest) will be coming home so students may
prepare for the Unit 5 Post Assessment planned for 3/14.

Week of 2/25/19 - 3/1/19

My kiddos have won another marble party!  We will celebrate on Monday.
Students are encouraged to wear pjs and bring in their favorite stuffed
toy.  Congrats to the third graders from room 105!!

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling: The homework will be due on or before February 28.  Remember,
that’s Thursday, not Friday!  The test will be on that day as well.

We’ll be taking a short break from spelling the following week and will
focus on prefixes and suffixes!

Reading & Language Arts:  This week we’ll be continuing our Culture Day
research project.  It involves researching various aspects of a country,
creating a book, and giving an oral presentation on your country.
Details about the upcoming presentations are in your child’s binder.
All reporting dates have been chosen.  The presentations will start
on March 4.  

Social Science: We will continue our Science curriculum, “Amplify.”

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  This week we continue Unit 5, Multiplication,
Division, and Area.  We’ll focus on multiplication and division story
problems.The X11 table test will be on Wednesday.  
A practice sheet will come home Monday.  There will be a checkpoint
Quiz on Tuesday.  It will cover both multiplication and division.

Week of 2/18/19 - 2/22/19

The children really enjoyed Valentine’s Day!   From passing out their
valentines to the amazing party in the afternoon, it was a top notch day!

Thank you to our amazing moms and grandma who did all the work and/or
Brought in the wonderful treats!  I hope you all have a great 4-day weekend.

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling: New spelling words and a homework menu will be coming home
on Monday.  The homework will be due on or before March 1.

Reading & Language Arts:  This week we’ll be continuing our Culture Day
research project.  It involves researching various aspects of a country,
creating a book, and giving an oral presentation on your country.
More details will be handed out regarding the “sharing” this coming week
(hopefully.)

Social Science: We will continue our Science curriculum, “Amplify.”

Week of 2/11/19 - 2/15/19

Our Valentine’s Day party will be on Thursday. Thank you in advance
to my wonderful parent volunteers for running the “show” and to those
who are sending in treats and supplies.  The kids will have a ball!!
We’ll be distributing our Valentines earlier that day.  Please make sure
every child in our class gets a valentine from your child.
I will send home a list of names today.



Today I am introducing the Culture Day project to your children. Their
homework for the weekend will be to choose the country they’d like to
research.  It should be connected to your family’s culture. Please make sure
your child writes it in their assignment notebook for Monday.

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling: The due date for menu homework is Thursday, 2/14.  The test
will also happen on that day.

Reading & Language Arts:  This week we’ll be starting our Culture Day
research project.  It involves researching various aspects of a country,
creating a book, and sharing an oral presentation on your country.
More details will be shared as we march on through February.

Social Science: We will continue our Science curriculum, “Amplify.”

We finished our Social Studies unit on Immigration which will lead
to the above-mentioned Culture Day.

Week of 2/4/19 - 2/8/19

Happy Friday and Happy February!  What a week it has been!!
I hope you all relaxed and took it easy on our snow/cold days!


We'll be starting a 5 week session of Junior Achievement on
Tuesday. Mr. Dan Blocker will be coming in to teach our third
graders. He is an awesome volunteer and we are always so
pleased to invite him into our third grade world.  


Coming Up Next Week:


Spelling: New sorts and menus will be going home on Monday.  The due
date will be Thursday, 2/14.


Reading & Language Arts:  We’ll continue our cross-curricular study
of immigration as we read our Communities book. Our final test on
this information will be on Thursday, 2/7.  A study guide will go home on
Tuesday. Students should use this guide, their quizzes, and their
text books to study!!  We will review the morning of 2/7.


New reading logs for February will be going home today!


Social Science: We will continue our Science curriculum, “Amplify.”


Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  Unit 4 will conclude this week. A study guide
will be coming home TODAY!  Please make sure your child has it completed
by Thursday.  The test for Unit 4 will take place on Friday, 2/8.
