Week of 4/29/19 - 5/3/19

Happy “almost” May!!  Thank you to all the families who came to
our Open House Wednesday; we had a wonderful turnout! I was listening
to some of the students present their work and it really touched me.
They are so proud of their accomplishments!  


We are celebrating our students today with another marble party!  
The marble jar has been filled and we are starting the process again!!


Coming Up Next Week:


Spelling: New spelling words and the homework menu will be coming home
today. Homework will be due on or before 5/10.  


Reading & Language Arts: We continue to read The One and Only Ivan.
We’ll also be working in our Ivan packets.


Reading Logs for April will be due on or before Wednesday, 5/1. The
May log will go home on Wednesday. It will be our final one of the year!


The students have been working on completing their cursive workbooks
Since the beginning of the school year.  They will be due on or before
Friday, May 24.  Many students have chosen not to work in their books
during the school day.  I fear there will be a lot of pages to be done!


Social Science: We are almost finished with our Chicago unit. There will
be a quiz covering the third portion of our Eyewitness Chicago packet
on Thursday.  Please make sure your child completes his/her study guide
and tucks it back into his/her Social Science pocket (binder.) They will
go home on Tuesday.


Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: We’ll continue Unit 6, Geometry, this week.
I am looking at Tuesday, May 7, as our final test date.  There will be
A study guide/pretest coming home on Thursday, May 2. Please make sure
your child completes it.  We’ll go over it on Monday, May 6.


There will be a Divided by 6 quiz on Wednesday.

Week of 4/22/19 - 4/26/19

Today marks the halfway point of the third trimester of 3rd grade.
Unbelievable! Please make sure to check your child’s grades online.


Open House and Book Fair is Wednesday from 6:30 - 8:00.  There
are so many exciting projects to behold; I hope you can all come to room 105!!


I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend. Monday is officially
Earth Day and we will celebrate our beautiful, fragile Earth on that day!

Bring the Change Spirit Week- April 22nd- April 26th!
We are raising money for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Foundation while raising school spirit! Bring change for a great cause and wear something fun!  
Monday- PJ Penny Day (wear your pajamas and bring in pennies)
Tuesday- Neon Nickels Day (wear bright colors and bring in nickels)
Wednesday- Dazzling Dimes Day (wear something shiny or unique and bring dimes)
Thursday- Crazy Quarters Day (wear crazy socks or a hat and bring quarters)
Friday- Team up for Leukemia (wear team jerseys or colors and bring all coins) 

Coming Up Next Week:


Spelling: Homework will be due on or before Friday, 4/26. The test will
also be on that day.


Reading & Language Arts: We continue to read The One and Only Ivan.
We’ll also be working in our Ivan packets.


Acrostic Spring poems will be written this week.


Social Science: We will continue our Chicago unit this week.  There will

We’ll then continue our Chicago reading, focusing on Politics in Chicago

There will be a Geometry Checkpoint Quiz on MONDAY!!   Furthermore,
A divided by 4 quiz will occur on Wednesday. We’ll then focus on
perimeter.

Week of 4/15/19 - 4/19/19

We have been so busy in Room 105 preparing for our upcoming Open House
AND taking the IAR tests!!   We rocked the tests and are so glad we can
continue with the fun stuff :)   

Here’s what coming up; remember, it’s a short week!!

creating a brochure this week focusing on one of the wonderful places
to visit in Chicago.

On Wednesday, students will be tested on their division by 3.

Week of 4/8/19 - 4/12/19

We will take our Reading/ELA IAR tests on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Please make sure your child’s chromebook is fully charged. They will
also need their headphones. Students should get a good, healthy breakfast,
have a healthy snack here at school, and get a good night’s sleep before
these important tests.  


Coming Up Next Week:


Spelling: The menu homework will be due on or before Friday. The test will
also be on Friday.


Reading & Language Arts: We have begun reading The One and Only Ivan.  So
far, the students are loving it!


New reading logs for April have gone home.


Social Science: We will continue our Chicago unit this week.  Our focus will
be on the Industrial Boom and the Great Chicago Fire.


Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: We’ll continue Unit 6, Geometry, this week.
We’ve completed our IAR tests!
