Week of 5/30/16 - 6/3/16

This is it!  The final week together in third grade!!   Monday is Memorial Day, so no school.  Tuesday we bowl at Brunswick.  If your child plans to buy snacks, please make sure he/she brings their money; no phone calls will be made to parents to bring their money to school.  $5.00 is more than enough!!     

Chromebooks, cases, and charger cords will be checked and collected on Tuesday, May 31.  

Some fun days ahead as we celebrate “4 Days til 4th Grade!”

Coming up next week:

Spelling:   We are done!

Reading & Language Arts: We’re finishing up our final writing piece - argumentative.  Daily 5 stations will continue this week.

Social Studies:  Nada!

Science:   Also nada!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  Math officially ended.  Have a wonderful summer!  Keep practicing those math facts for 4th grade!!

Week of 5/23/16 - 5/27/16

We are coming up on our last full week of school!  My how time flies!!  Weather getting better; summer is coming!

Coming up next week:

Spelling:   Please make sure your child completes 2 activities from each column of the homework menu!  The final product will be due on or before 5/27.  Test will be on that day also.

Reading & Language Arts: We’ll be finishing up our final unit “Stand Up for What You Believe In” and working on our final writing piece - argumentative.  

We’re continuing using RAZ kids in class in lieu of book reports.  Students need to read stories online and answer comprehension questions following each story.

May Logs will be due at the end of the month (on or before May 27.)  Cursive workbooks are due (finished) on or before May 27.   They will be graded for completion!!

Social Studies:  On Hiatus!

Science:   We’ll finish up our ecosystems chapter with a fun project.  Students will be creating a poster depicting one of the ecosystems we studied.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  The students have earned a marble party for good behavior!  We celebrated on Thursday with Dunkin Donuts and some board game playin!!   On to the final unit, Building Bridges!!

Week of 5/16/16 - 5/20/16

We had a wonderful visit to the Shedd Aquarium yesterday!  The students were well-behaved and being in the city was so much fun!  Thank you to Bobby’s mom, Emily’s dad, and my daughter Courtney for coming along.

Our pen pal letters have been delivered to our second graders.  We can’t wait til they visit on 5/27!   We ended Junior Achievement this week.  Thank you so much Mr. Blocker!

Coming up next week:

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  Our Unit 7 test will be on Wednesday, 5/18.  Please make sure your child completes the pre test (study guide) that will be coming home today.  We’ll correct it together on Tuesday as a review.   We start our final unit on Thursday.

Week of 5/9/16 - 5/13/16

We finished up our MAP testing for the year!   Deep breath out….   On Thursday, we visit the Shedd Aquarium.  Please make sure your child has a sack lunch that day (totally throwaway) including a beverage.  It will be so wonderful to visit the beautiful city to the east :)

Reading & Language Arts:  We’ve begun  our friendly letter lessons, which leads into the writing of our 2nd grade pen pal letters.  The kids are so excited!!
