Week of 2/25/13 - 3/1/13

We've earned another good behavior/marble party!! Yippee!! We'll be watching a movie (still to be determined) and enjoying some healthy snacks on Monday. Students may wear pj bottoms and slippers for the party. Congratulations and keep up the good work!!

We will start ISAT testing the week after next. I like to provide healthy snacks between tests for all the students. If you would like to send something in some time next week, that would be very helpful. Some ideas I have are granola bars, fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers, etc. Please, no nuts!! There are 26 students in the class and thank you!

Coming up next week:

Spelling: Back to normal spelling with lesson 17. Pretest on Monday. Everyone will do the cursive hw, due Tuesday. Challenge folks will do 2 activities due Thursday. Non-challenge will work on ABC order and pp. 44 and 45 from the Vol. II practice book, also due on Thursday. Those people will take the final test on Friday.

Week of 2/11/13 - 2/15/13

This week we will celebrate Valentine's Day with a party on Thursday. When sending in valentines for your child to distribute, the easiest thing to do is just leave the envelope blank. The students will be able to “deliver” each valentine quickly and easily. I am sending home a class list today with names so you'll know how many total students, boys, and girls we have. Also, if your child's valentine includes some sort of candy, the children will not be able to eat it at school. Thank you!

There are some great PBIS “tips” on the blog written by our social worker, Mrs. Amedeo. Check it out! http://prairieviewpbis.blogspot.com/

Coming up next week:

Spelling: Rather than spelling this week, we will be changing gears and working on suffixes. The students will continue working in their packets which will include some class work and some pages that needs to be done as homework.

English: Our adjectives and adverbs test will be on Friday, 2/15.

Reading: This month is Black History Month! Our students have selected an African American to research. They are collecting information and creating a photo album based on that person's life. All projects will be due on 2/15.

Social Studies: We are taking a break from our formal social studies lessons, but we will continue to dabble in some activities that go along with our culture unit.

Science: The final test for chapter 14 will be Tuesday, February 12. We will review on Monday. I hope the students will be paying attention!!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: We will be finishing up chapter 14 this week, “Plane Figures.” The test is planned for Thursday, 2/14.

Important Dates:
2/14 – Valentine's Day parties
2/17 – President's Day – no school

Have a great weekend! Mrs. Klacza
