Week of 5/29/17 - 6/2/17

This is it!  Our final week together in third grade!!   Monday is Memorial Day, so no school.  Wednesday we bowl at Brunswick. Chromebooks, cases, and charger cords will be checked and collected on Tuesday, May 30.  Students may still use their chromebooks in class, but they won’t be able to bring them home after Tuesday.  
Some fun days ahead as we celebrate “4 Days til 4th Grade!”

Thursday:  Sunglasses & Hat Day      Friday:  Fancy pen/marker day
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling: We are done!

Reading & Language Arts:  Reading stations will continue this week.  The final reading log for May will be due on Monday!!  

Social Studies:   We are done!

Science:   We are done!!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  Math class will be concluded today (Friday) with a celebration.  What a fun year we’ve had together!!

Week of 5/22/17 - 5/26/17

We are coming up on our last “full” week of school.  Where has the year gone?  Let’s make these next 9 days great!!   Enjoy the weekend, even though it will be a bit chilly...
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling: Please make sure your child completes 4 activities from the Menu.  Our final menu homework and our final spelling test in third grade will be on Friday, 5/26.  


Reading & Language Arts:  We will be finishing  The One and Only Ivan this week.  


The final reading log for May will be due on or before 5/30. This is a bit early but I’ve got to get the grades in!  


Completed cursive workbooks are due on or before May 22. Please know this was assigned at the very beginning of the school year and every morning is devoted to getting some of it done.  There will be a grade for this project!   


Social Studies:   We are finished with Social Studies for the year.


Science:   We are exploring a new program called “Mystery Science” with Mrs. Forsman.  I’m so excited!!


Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We finish math and Unit 7 on “Extending Multiplication and Fractions” this week. A pretest will go home to be completed on Monday.  Please make sure your child completes it before Wednesday. Our Unit 7 test will take place on Thursday, 5/25.  We’ll celebrate the year on Friday, 5/26.

Week of 5/15/17 - 5/19/17

Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous Moms!   I hope you are appreciated and pampered on Sunday!!   We had a wonderful zoo day on Thursday.  Thank you to all the parents who came along to chaperone.  You are all the best!!



Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:  New “sorting” words will be coming home on Monday.  Our final set of menu homework and our final spelling test in third grade will be on Friday, 5/26.  


Reading & Language Arts:  We are continuing  The One and Only Ivan.  We’ll be focusing on continuing the reading and discussion using our Ivan packets.


The final reading log for May is now in your hands.  They will be due on or before 5/30.  This is a bit early but I’ve got to get the grades in!  


Completed cursive workbooks are due on or before May 22. Please know this was assigned at the very beginning of the school year and every morning is devoted to getting some of it done.


Social Studies:   We will be taking a hiatus from Social Studies.  


Science:   Chapter 4 in our textbooks, “Ecosystems”, will be completed.  On Tuesday, we will have an open book/notes graded review (quiz) on Lesson 4.  A study guide will be going home on Monday to prepare the students for their unit test on Thursday.   We’ll then be exploring a new program called “Mystery Science.”


Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We continue Unit 7 this week on “Extending Multiplication and Fractions”.  We’ll focus on egg carton & pizza fractions this week.  There will be a short checkpoint quiz on Friday.  Our Unit 7 test will take place on Thursday, 5/25.

Week of 5/8/17 - 5/12/17

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!  We have a very busy week coming up…  Monday and Tuesday we’ll be taking our Spring MAP tests; Monday will be math, Tuesday will be ELA. We are encouraging our students to take their time and try their very hardest. A good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast and snack are also important for success.  On Wednesday, we’ll be listening to your children read and answer comprehensive questions in order to find their F&P (Fountas & Pinnell) level.
On Thursday, we’ll be visiting Brookfield Zoo in order to observe the behavior of gorillas in Tropic World.  Please make sure your child has a disposable sack lunch on that day.  
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:  The Menu homework is due on or before Friday, May 12.  Please make sure your child does his/her activities on a sheet of notebook paper!  Also, a test will occur on that day.

We will also be finishing up the letters to our second grade pen pals.  This is a very exciting time in third grade!
