Last Week of School

I would like to wish all of my students a wonderful, relaxing, and safe summer. We have had a successful year together in Room 105 and I truly believe each and every one of you are ready for what lies ahead in 4th grade. Work hard, be respectful to your teachers and your fellow students, and have fun! I can't wait to see you all next year.

To my parents, I thank you for your support and generosity throughout the year. Your children have their wings and are ready to fly. Support them and love them; they are all treasures.

Keep on reading (for enjoyment, of course!) Practice your math facts, too!! Email me from time to time to let me know how your summer is going :)   I do check my emails in the summer!!

6/3 – Picnic & Games - End of Year School Picnic
In the interest of ensuring that all students remain safe while having fun during the school picnic, gym shoes will be the only acceptable foot wear of the day.  Little toes and feet cannot play when bruised and abraded. If feet are not in proper attire, students will not be allowed to participate in outdoor activities.  Thank you.

6/4 – Full class day – Marble Party during math class and in the afternoon
for homeroom

6/5 – Last day of school – Dismissal at 9:30.

Enjoy your summer! Mrs. Klacza

Week of 5/27/13 - 5/31/13

We enjoyed meeting our penpals and “showing them around.” We'll be strolling over to Mrs. Cavoto's classroom on Wednesday to find out more about 4th grade. Memory books will be made on Thursday, and our bowling field trip will be on Friday. Students should make sure and wear or bring socks on Friday since they will be putting on bowling shoes. Also, bring a lunch from home that day; there is so much snacking going on, most children don't even want to eat lunch when we return!

What a week, and a short one, too!! Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

Coming up this week:

Spelling: We are officially finished with 3rd grade spelling.

English: We are continuing our quick writes this week. Most of the students love receiving a “prompt” and responding to it in their writing journals. The sharing is my favorite part!

Reading: We'll end poetry week and focus on some guided reading.

Social Studies: This week, we will continue chapter 9, “Communities at Work.” There will be a graded, open book lesson 2 review on Tuesday and another on lesson 3 on Friday.

Science: We will continue to read and discuss Energy this week (chapter 14.) I'm hoping to have the students make posters on Tuesday.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: This week will be a shortened math week due to all the fun things occurring in the 3rd grade. We'll continue to focus on skills we covered this year. We'll also visit the lab for some math games and play Multiplication Bingo in class.  We've earned a good behavior "marble party" and will celebrate the last full day of school!

Important Dates:
5/27 – Memorial Day (day off)
5/31 – Bowling field trip
6/3 – Prairieview picnic (All students must wear/have gym shoes!!)
6/5 – Last Day of School (Summer begins!)

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!! Mrs. KlaczaWe

We are approaching our last “full” week of 3rd grade. I can't believe how fast the year went.  We are oh-so-close to winning another good behavior marble party!!   I'll keep you posted :)

Our 2nd grade pen pals will be visiting us on Tuesday. We enjoyed the letters they wrote and can't wait to meet them.

Enjoy this beautiful weather!    Go Blackhawks!!!

Coming up this week:

Spelling: One more, final lesson to go!! Lesson 27 is a list of 4th grade frequently misspelled words. We'll pretest on Monday, final test on Friday. The only homework will be to write all the words in cursive, on notebook paper, 2 times each. They will be due on Wednesday.

English: We will be focusing on quick writes this week. Most of the students love receiving a “prompt” and responding to it in their writing journals. The sharing is my favorite part!

Reading: Poetry week! Students have received a sheet of vocabulary words and will be quizzed on Monday.

Social Studies: This week, we will go back to our textbooks and study chapter 9, “Communities at Work.” We'll learn about saving and spending money; what a great topic for soon to be 4th graders!!

Science: We are technically done with all our units of study. We will read and discuss Energy this week (chapter 14.) I'm not sure what this will entail, but it should be fun!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: This week and the next we will be exploring some of the units we didn't dive into as much as I would have liked. Look out for money, fractions, and simple problem solving.

5/21 - 2nd graders visit us
5/27 – Memorial Day (day off)
6/4 – Prairieview picnic
6/5 – Last Day of School (Summer begins!)
