Week of 2/4/13 - 2/8/13

It's hard to believe February starts today! Thank goodness it's a short month (I'm tired of Winter!) but there is a lot going on in room 105...

Coming up next week:

Spelling: Rather than spelling this week, we will be changing gears and working on prefixes. The students will be getting a packet which will include some class work and some pages that needs to be done as homework.

English: We'll continue our adjectives chapter with lessons 3 & 4. There will be a short quiz on the first 4 lessons on Thursday.

Reading: We will finish up our Book Buddies activity this week. The blue packets are due on Tuesday. There will be a short book report assigned this week for the novel they read, also.

This month is Black History Month! Our students will be selecting an African American to research. We will then collect information and create a photo album based on that person's life. Look out for the explanation and rubric on Monday. All projects will be tentatively due on 2/15.

Social Studies: We'll be taking a short break from social studies this week.

Science: We'll continue chapter 14 this week with lesson 4, “What is Sound?” The final test for chapter 14 will be Tuesday, February 12.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: Monday we will have our timed multiplication facts test. Please remember, each child will get a chance to retake it 2 times. We will be starting chapter 14 this week, “Plane Figures.”

Important Dates:
2/5 – District Spelling Bee
2/14 – Valentine's Day parties
2/17 – President's Day – no school

Have a great weekend! Mrs. Klacza
