Week of 2/23/15 - 2/27/15

The weather has been extremely cold and I’m just so happy we are entering the final week of February.  Is Spring around the corner?   I sure hope so!
PARCC testing will begin the first week of March.  We’ve already taken a practice test in the lab.  If you’d like to check the tests out at home, I've attached some links: http://nextgen.apps.sparcc.org/la/3-5  (Language Arts) http://www.azed.gov/wp-ontent/uploads/assessment/Grade3_Literature_Student/story.html    (Literature)
Coming up this week:
Spelling: Lesson 18.   Cursive due Tuesday, All other homework due Thursday.   Test Friday, “challenge words” students excused from test.   Please make sure your child is using notebook paper for homework!

Language Arts: We will continue our Traditions unit.  Our stories for the next couple of weeks will continue to be Throw Your Tooth on the Roof and The Matchbox Diary.  On Monday, I’ll be asking each child to bring in a small item that represents them that would fit into a matchbox.   We’ll discuss this further on Monday.

We will continue with a new set of WOW words.  The quiz will be Friday.

This week we revisit our English textbook.  We’ll be starting Adjectives and Adverbs, Unit 4.

Social Studies: Our chapter 3 test is Tuesday.  We will then start our Chicago unit the following week.

Science:  We’ll continue chapter 14, Heat, Light, and Sound.  We’ll be reading lesson 2 and taking notes this week.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We’ll be taking our Unit 8 test on Wednesday (pretest Tuesday.)   I’ll be taking the students to the lab to do some PARCC practice on Thursday.   Then on we go to Unit 9, Understanding Fractions.
