Week of 3/11/13 - 3/15/13

As we continue our ISAT testing this coming week, I'd like to thank all the kind parents who sent in the healthy treats. Our “Klacza buffet” is amazing and it makes the dreaded ISATs more bearable.

We will be taking this week's round of tests on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep each and every night and a big healthy breakfast in the mornings.

The Prairieview PBIS team is extending a wonderful opportunity to begin the new year with a community service project.  We will be holding a Food Pantry Drive at school for the West Suburban Community Pantry in Woodridge from March 11-15.  Boxes will be provided in each classroom to collect the non-perishable food items.  Girl Scout Troop 50251, comprised of third and fourth grade students from Prairieview, has graciously volunteered to pack up and deliver the donated food on March 16th.  Thank you in advance for your generosity of spirit and deed!

Coming up next week:

Spelling: Lesson 20. Pretest on Monday. Everyone will do the cursive hw, due Tuesday. Challenge folks will do 1 activity, due Thursday. Non-challenge will work on ABC order, also due on Thursday. Those people will take the final test on Friday. I'm reigning in the homework again this week due to testing.

English: We will be taking a bit of a break this week.

Reading: We will continue and should finish reading Stone Fox. There will be a 2nd vocabulary quiz on Tuesday covering words from chapters 5-7.

Social Studies: We'll continue our study of the wonderful city of Chicago.

Science: Continuing chapter 10 this week, focusing on lesson 2 on how the earth and moon interact. I'm tentatively planning a graded review for Thursday, 3/14. Remember, these are always open book, open notes.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: My math students will be taking their ISAT tests with me this week. In between tests, we will be working in our Coach workbooks and studying chapter 22 on volume and perimeter. Tentative test date for chapters 16 & 22 is Monday, 3/18. I had it originally scheduled for Monday, 3/11, but pushed it back.  The students have their study guide for the test in their homework pocket.   It is not due until Friday, 3/15.

Important Dates:
Week of March 11 – ISAT testing (Tues, Wed, Thurs)
3/19 - Teachers' Institute 11:00 dismissal PV
3/22 – End of 3rd quarter
3/22 – Spring break starts at the end of the day :)

Have a great weekend! Mrs. Klacza
