Week of 10/29/18 - 11/2/18

Halloween is almost here!  Please make sure your child brings his/her
costume to school in a bag on Halloween (Tuesday.)   Costumes should be
easy to get on and off. Students will be changing in the classroom (we
separate the boys and the girls.) If you have any questions, send me an email.
Don’t forget about the parade (which will begin at 1:55ish!)  Hopefully,
the weather will cooperate...

It was so nice sitting down with you all this week!  I say this every year and
it still holds true; we have the nicest, most supportive parents in this school
district! Thank you for that!!

I'll be out of school for a few days (Thursday, Friday,Monday) to be at
my daughter's wedding in Charleston, SC. The children
will be in good hands!!

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling:  The due date for the homework menu will be November 2.
The test will also take place on that day.

Reading & Language Arts:  We’ll finish up writing our persuasive pieces “Buy
My Haunted House!” Students need to use lots of adjectives
in this descriptive piece. They will be drawing their haunted houses
to fit their descriptions this week!

Please make sure your child is reading! October logs are due on or before
Thursday, November 1.

Social Science: There is a Downers Grove history quiz scheduled for
Friday, November 2.  A study guide is going home today.  Students
should use their packets to help them study.
Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: This week we’ll continue to explore rounding to
the nearest 10 and 100.  We’ll then get into algorithm for addition and
subtraction (stack em up!!)  Our Unit 3 assessment will be on 11/9.  The
pretest/study guide will go home on Monday, 11/5.

Important Dates:
10/26 - Day off (Conferences)
10/29 - Day off (Teachers’ Institute)
10/31 - Halloween Parade & Party
11/21-11/23 - Thanksgiving break

Have a terrific 4-day weekend!
