Week of 3/12/18 - 3/16/18

I hope your child is working on the planning and construction of
their Leprechaun traps. These will be used to write a “How to…”
paper on Thursday. We will also set the traps on Thursday before
we leave and see if we catch anything!!

Our last Junior Achievement with Mr. Blocker will be on Wednesday.
We have enjoyed having him in room 105!

Don’t forget to “spring forward” this weekend!

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling:  Menu homework is due on or before Friday, 3/16.  The test
will be on that day as well.

Reading & Language Arts:  I’m excited to share that we will be starting our next unit which includes reading The One and Only Ivan.  This is my very favorite book of the third grade curriculum and I think all the students will love it!  Please feel free to read it, too, so you may talk to your child about it. It’s a very quick read!

I hope your child is reading and filling out his/her March reading log; They will be due on or before April 2.

Social Science: We’ll be continuing our Chicago unit this week. We’ll be
specifically studying the founding of Chicago, Railways, and the Waterways.
There will be a quiz on the first section of the book/Eyewitness Chicago
packet on Thursday.  A study guide will go home on Monday.
I’ve told the students that if they fill this out,

they may use it on the quiz.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We’ll continue Unit 6 on geometry this week,
specifically studying quadrilaterals, perimeter, and area.  There will be a
checkpoint quiz on Monday, 3/12.  A study guide went home today.

Important Dates:
3/14 - Last Junior Achievement
3/22 - Shedd Aquarium field trip
3/23 - Last day before Spring Break begins!

Have a great weekend!!
