Week of 5/1/17 - 5/5/17

Happy May!! Thank you to all the families who came to our Open House last night; we had a wonderful turnout! I was listening to some of the students present their work and it really touched me.  They are so proud of their accomplishments!   I’ve attached some pictures of the “before” in and outside our classroom at the end of this blog.
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:   New spelling words going home on Monday.  The Menu homework is due on or before May 12.  Please make sure your child does his/her activities on a sheet of notebook paper!

Reading & Language Arts:  We are continuing  The One and Only Ivan.  We’ll be focusing on continuing the reading and discussion using our Ivan packets.
We will also be starting our pen pal letters to our second grade pen pals.  Therefore, we’ll be learning about writing a friendly letter.

Please continue to track your child’s nightly reading on their April log.  They will be due on Monday.  A new Log will go home on Monday.

Social Studies:   We will be taking a hiatus from Social Studies.

Science:   Chapter 4 in our textbooks, “Ecosystems”, will be continued.  On Monday, we will have an open book/notes graded review (quiz) on Lesson 1.  Then, on to Lesson 2!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We continue Unit 7 this week on “Extending Multiplication and Fractions”.  We’ll focus on multiplying and fractions on a ruler this week.  There will be a short checkpoint quiz on Monday!!
