Week of 4/10/17 - 4/14/17

It was a little difficult coming back after a wonderful Spring Break, but we all adjusted just fine and completed the Math PARCC tests. We’ll be testing ELA on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and a good snack! Most importantly: Chromebooks needs to be fully charged every night and headphones should be brought to school daily!

Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:   The homework menu will be due on Thursday, April 13.  The test will also be on Thursday.

Reading & Language Arts:  We are continuing  The One and Only Ivan.  We’ll be focusing on continuing the reading and discussion using our Ivan packets.

Please continue to track your child’s nightly reading on their new April log.

Our read-aloud book has been Stone Fox.  Ask your child about it!   It’s an oldie, but a goodie.  We’ll be watching the movie and comparing and contrasting the book to the movie later in the week.

Social Studies:   Our “cow stories” are almost complete and we’ve been working on our “cows on parade” as well.  This is an activity that is done totally at school.  I’ve asked the students to peer edit.  I can’t wait to see who’s fault The Great Chicago Fire really was!!

Science:   We’ll be taking a brief hiatus from Science.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: Our Unit 6 geometry unit is in full swing.  Area and perimeter will be stressed this week.  Furthermore, there will be a multiplication “mixes” quiz on Wednesday.  We’ll also be making fraction pizzas which you’ll be able to view at Open House.

Important Dates:
4/14 & 4/17 - non-attendance days (Easter)
4/27 - Open House
5/12 - Early Dismissal

Enjoy your weekend!
