Week of 4/17/17 - 4/21/17

We survived PARCC testing!!   Now back to the regular curriculum until the end of the school year.  I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend; I’m hoping the weather improves!!

Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:   New word sorts will be going home on Tuesday with a menu for homework.  It will be due on or before 4/28.

Reading & Language Arts:  We are continuing  The One and Only Ivan.  We’ll be continuing the reading and discussion using our Ivan packets. The children are loving the book!

Please continue to track your child’s nightly reading on their April log.

Social Studies:   This week, we’ll be reading and discussing “Multicultural Chicago” and “Skyscrapers” in our Eyewitness Chicago books.  A study guide will be distributed on Tuesday.  Students may fill it out using their packets, and use it on Test 3 (final) on Friday.  They will not be able to use their packets!   After we read about the skyscrapers, students will be making their own buildings in teams.  These will be put up as a skyline for Open House.

Science:   We’ll be taking a brief hiatus from Science.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: Our Unit 6 geometry unit is coming to an end.  A study guide will be going home today and it will be due on Wednesday.  We’ll thoroughly go over all answers on Wednesday.  The Unit 6 test will take place on Thursday.  Then, on to Unit 7 (Extending Multiplication & Fractions.)

Important Dates:
4/14 & 4/17 - non-attendance days (Easter)
4/27 - Open House & Book Fair (6:30-8:00)

Enjoy your long weekend!
