Week of 2/6/17 - 2/10/17

The 100th day of school is coming!!   We’ll be celebrating on Monday with some fun activities.  The year is flying by!!   Here’s an update on what’s going on next week.
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:  Students should be working on their spelling homework by choosing one activity from each column, and one “extra” activity of their choice, any column.  The homework is due on or before Friday, 2/10.  They may hand it in whenever it’s finished! Also, I’m happy to print any homework done on the Chromebook.  The test will also be on 2/10.

Reading & Language Arts:  We continue our unit Culture and Traditions. I’m in the process of grading the country reports.  We’ll be starting on our “Culture Day” activity soon.  A letter and other information will be coming home shortly, but I have pushed it to the week of 2/13.  So let’s take a breath until further notice!

February Logs have come home.  The Six Flags Great America “Read to Succeed” sheets are due on Monday.  This activity is totally optional.

Social Studies:  We’ll continue to read out of our Social Studies textbooks during our reading block, as we learn about immigration and culture.  Students have been collaboratively working on note taking and open book quizzes.   This is a cross-curricular activity.  Grades will be appearing as part of English/Language Arts.

Science:   We’ll be starting our Space unit (Chapter 10) on Tuesday.  Our very first graded review (Lesson 1) will tentatively be on Friday.  Keep an eye on the assignment notebooks!

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We continue Unit 5, Multiplication, Division, and Area.  We’ll specifically be focusing on story problems and fact families.  Additionally, the practice sheets for X6 will be going home on Monday; students will be tested on those 6s on Friday, Feb. 10.  There will be a short Checkpoint Quiz on Thursday.  It will cover multiplication and division.

Important Dates:
2/14 - Valentine’s Day (party)
2/13 & 2/15 - Math Conferences
2/17 & 2/20 - Days off for conferences and Presidents’ Day
3/3 - End of Trimester 2 and Early Dismissal

Have a great weekend!
