Week of 1/9/16 - 1/13/16

Happy New Year!   It was a wonderful 2 week break but I am happy to be back in a routine!  I hope you are all feeling the same way.  Stay warm this weekend!
MAP testing is next week; Tuesday is math and Wednesday is reading.  Please make sure your child gets a good breakfast and brings a healthy snack to school. Also, a good night’s sleep is a must!!

Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:   Spelling Menu homework is due on Friday, 1/13.  Remember, students must now do 4 activities: 1 from each column, and another one of their choice.  The test will also be on Friday.

Reading & Language Arts:  We continue our unit Culture and Traditions.  Please be aware that we will be doing a lot of writing (and keyboarding) in the next few weeks as we begin our culture research projects.  Some writing will become homework, if necessary.

Social Studies:  We’re on hiatus!

Science:   We’ll continue our unit on Matter!  A “graded review” (quiz) will occur on Tuesday (this is a change from my last blog.)  Students are allowed to use their textbooks and Quick Study notes.  We’ll then start Lesson 2.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We continue Unit 4 on Measurement and Fractions.  There will be a checkpoint quiz on measurement on Friday, 1/13. We'll be taking the MAP test on Tuesday.

Important Dates:
1/10 - Map test/Math
1/11 - Map test/Reading
1/16 - Martin Luther King’s birthday (day off)
2/2 - Early Dismissal for Teacher Institute
2/14 - Valentine’s Day (party)

Have a great weekend!
