We are finished with our second round of MAP testing. We’ll test one more time in the spring. Now let’s get through the rest of January!! Before you know it, we’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day!!
We celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday on Monday. We talked about this great, peaceful man today and watched Our Friend Martin. Enjoy your 3-day weekend in his honor!
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling: A new spelling sort will be coming home on Tuesday, along with the Menu for homework. Please remember, I’m expecting one activity from each column (3 in total) and 1 of the student’s choice (1 more - 4 in total!) The due date is 1/27.
Reading & Language Arts: We continue our unit Culture and Traditions. The research in the Composition Books for the country of your child’s choice is due on Tuesday. Most students are finished, so they can take a break over the weekend. We will start typing the written report next week. The format is already on Classroom, but I’d prefer the students wait until next week for direction.
Keep on reading for the January log! We are almost halfway through the month!!
Social Studies: We’ll be reading out of our Social Studies textbooks during our reading block, as we learn about immigration and culture.
Science: We’ll continue our unit on Matter! A “graded review” (quiz) will occur on Thursday for Lesson 2. Students are allowed to use their textbooks and Quick Study notes. We’ll then start Lesson 3.
Mrs. Klacza's Math Class: We continue Unit 4 on Measurement and Fractions. We’re on the fractions part now! Tentatively, our post test for Unit 4 will be on 1/26.
Important Dates:
1/16 - Martin Luther King’s birthday (day off)
2/2 - Early Dismissal for Teacher Institute
2/14 - Valentine’s Day (party)
Have a great 3-day weekend!
