Week of 1/23/17 - 1/27/17

Happy Friday! Congratulations and good luck to Silvana and Nathan who will both represent our class in the grade level spelling bee on Thursday. I am very proud of all my spellers! As we inch our way to February, please make sure you are checking your child’s grades online frequently. We are halfway through the year already; it’s so hard to believe!
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:   Spelling menu homework is due on Friday, 1/27.  I’m expecting one activity from each column (3 in total) and 1 activity of the student’s choice (4 in total!)  The spelling test will be on that day as well.

Reading & Language Arts:  We continue our unit Culture and Traditions. The students have started typing their written reports.  The reports will be due on Friday, 1/27.   Please feel free to read them at home and help with any information he/she needs.

Keep on reading for the January log!   They will be due on or before February 1.

Social Studies: We’ll be reading out of our Social Studies textbooks during our reading block, as we learn about immigration and culture.  Students have been collaboratively working on note taking and open book quizzes.

Science:   We’ll continue our unit on Matter!  A “graded review” (quiz) will occur on Thursday, 1/26, for Lesson 3.  Students are allowed to use their textbooks and Quick Study notes.  Our Chapter 11 test will tentatively be on 1/31.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  Our post test for Unit 4 will be on Wednesday,  1/25.  We are also working hard on our multiplication facts and getting tested each Friday/retakes on Monday.  So far, the 2s have been conquered and the 3s will be tested today.  Next week, we’re skipping to the 5s!  I hope your child is practicing at home!
