Week of 4/13/15 - 4/17/15

Welcome back!   What a wonderful break we had; now we are in the home stretch.  Here we go!!
I hope you all survived the crazy storms last night!  I think we were rather lucky after watching all the news reports.
Coming up this week:
Spelling:  Lesson 23.  Pretest Monday/Test Friday.   Cursive due Tuesday.  Other HW due Thursday.
Language Arts: We will continue our unit “Tales as Old as Time.”  We are close reading the short story The Mysterious Giant of Barletta by Tomie DePaola this week.

We will resume our WOW words this week, as well. The students will learn a new word every day, Monday-Thursday.   The quiz will be on Friday.

Social Studies: We will continue our Chicago unit, specifically focusing on the rebuilding after the Great Chicago Fire.   A study guide for Test II will go home on Thursday.   The test for this section of Eyewitness Chicago will occur on Monday, 4/20.  Students will be allowed to use their study guides for the test.

Science:  We’ll begin our next lesson this week on the moon.  Our graded review will occur on Wednesday.  Of course, the children may use their textbooks and notes.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We have begun our next unit of study, Unit 11, Geometry.  It’s only 5 lessons long.  There will be a quiz on the entire unit on Thursday.

Important Dates:
4/30 - Open House & Book Fair
5/15 - Early Dismissal
5/25 - Memorial Day (no school)

Have a great weekend!   Mrs. Klacza
