Week of 5/7/12 - 5/11/12

The month of May is an exciting month in the fifth grade! We will be visiting Lakeview a couple times for a tour and to see the spring musical. We will also have a presentation by John Lynn on his expedition on the Lewis and Clark trail. Check the calendar below for all these important dates.

Please make sure you are checking your child's grades from time to time. Also, we only have a few more weeks to complete book reports for our “Book is a Treasure” program.

Coming up this week:

Spelling: Lesson 31: Pretest Monday, spelling practice HW due Tuesday, workbook pages due Thursday, final test on Friday.

English: We will finish the second half of the verbs unit before we review lessons 8-14. Our test on those lessons will be Thursday.

Reading: We continue our fantasy novel unit. We are using 2 novels, The Bridge to Terabithia and The Wish Giver. This week we will gather in “book clubs” to discuss important aspects of each novel.

Social Studies: Chapter 12 begins this week, “Times of Change.” We learn about the beginnings of the industrial revolution and create our own “Fortunately, Unfortunately” booklet.

Science: Chapter 13, “The Earth, Moon, and Beyond” begins this week. Quick
study on Thursday!
