Week of 3/9/09 - 3/13/09

As we prepare to “spring forward” this weekend, I'd like to tell you and remind you all of a few things. First of all, conferences are this week! Please remember your appointment time and if anything comes up, please email me. Also, because of conferences, we will have no school on Friday the 13th. Thursday is an early dismissal day (11:00.) Lastly, I'd like to invite you all to our TGFD graduation. The date has been set for Monday, April 13, at 8:45 a.m. Invitations will be coming out soon.

Coming up this week:

Mrs. Klacza's Reading Class:

Spelling: No spelling lesson due to the shortened week.

Reading: We begin our study of China. This is a very exciting unit which involves reading, discussion, and research. The children will eventually create their very own travel brochures, along with a number of other cool products!

Language Arts: Back to the textbook for the study of adjectives. Our Schoolhouse Rock song reminds us to "Unpack our Adjectives."

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:

Chapter 19: This week we continue our study of geometry with planes and solid figures. This will get us all ready for our in-school field trip, GeoSpace.

Mrs. Klacza's Homeroom:

Social Studies: Our circle books are due on Tuesday and I've planned the Chapter 9 test for the same day. I have given the students ample time to work on their books in class, so no excuses!! We won't start Chapter 10 until the following week.

Science: Did your child tell you about the owl pellets and what they found inside? Wow, they did a great job using their science kits and tearing those pellets apart. We will have an open book/open note quiz on Thursday.
