Week of 3/23/09 - 3/27/09

Spring has sprung! What a glorious time of year it is; let's stay focused and work hard!! We have one more full week before Spring Break. Our homeroom will be having the in-school, GeoSpace field trip on Wednesday. The visit to the Tivoli to see Nanny McPhee will be on Friday.

Coming up this week:

Mrs. Klacza's Reading Class:

Spelling: Lesson 24: words ending with -ar. Test on Friday.

Reading: Thank you to all the parents who brought in the treats for our reading celebration on Tuesday. We continue our study of China by completing our China travel brochures.

Language Arts: The study of adjectives will end on Tuesday with our Chapter test. We will then start our “Me Front Page” activity. The students have been busily sketching their 8x10 pictures, getting ready for this assignment.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:

We will study parts of Chapter 13 this week, specifically, adding and subtracting “like” fractions and using common denominators. There will be a very short “quest” on Thursday, directly from the book. I will choose specific problems that pertain to what we've learned.

Mrs. Klacza's Homeroom:

Social Studies: We continue Chapter 10 this week, specifically Lesson 3, "Ratifying the Constitution." The students will work in teams to illustrate a section of the Preamble. Ask your child if they can sing the Preamble song yet!

Science: We continue our study of weather with the uneven heating of the earth and local and prevailing winds. There will be an open book assessment on Friday.
