Week of 3/16/09-3/20/09

Our second trimester is already over and I'd like to thank those parents I conferenced with person to person or by telephone. Please remember if any of you have questions or concerns, the best way to reach me is via email. The third (and final) trimester has begun and I'm hopeful it will be a good one. Let's all stay focused and work our hardest!! Please remember our TGFD graduation. The date has been set for Monday, April 13, at 8:45 a.m. and invitations will be coming out soon.

Coming up this week:

Mrs. Klacza's Reading Class:

Spelling: Lesson 23: the prefix ad-. Test on Friday.

Reading: Congratulations to all my readers! Everyone met their goals this trimester and earned themselves a reading party which will take place on Tuesday. Please ask your child if they signed you up for a food item... We will also be continuing our study of China with reading and research. The pandas are due Monday. We will be making our dragons Friday.

Language Arts: The study of adjectives continues. This is a very short chapter; therefore, our test is planned for Tuesday, 3/24.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:

Chapter 19: Geometry continues with the study of solid figures. There will be a “quest” on Thursday.

Mrs. Klacza's Homeroom:

Social Studies: We continue Chapter 10 this week, specifically Lesson 1 “A Weak Government.” This is the chapter where the students will learn the preamble to the Constitution. Another Schoolhouse Rock song will be memorized and this one is very useful! There won't be a test until after spring break.

Science: We will start a new unit this week on weather, specifically, the uneven heating of the Earth.

Important Notes:
3/17 - St. Patty's Day - wear green
3/25 - Geospace for Klacza
3/27 – Trip to the Tivoli to see Nanny McPhee
