Week of 9/3/18 - 9/7/18

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!  It was so great to see you all
at Curriculum Night on Wednesday; we had a great turnout!!  Thank
you so much for coming out and listening to all my bad jokes!

There was a glitch with MAP testing so we will be taking the reading
portion on Wednesday. Also, the “All About Me” posters are due on
or before Wednesday.

Coming Up Next Week:

Spelling:  We’ll officially start the “menu homework” the week after Labor
Day week.

Reading & Language Arts:
We’ll continue our focus on various reading skills using fun literature.  This
week our books will be Zoom, Pigsty and If you Give a Mouse a Cookie
(we didn’t get to this last week.) The skills studied will be inferencing,
main idea & details, and cause and effect.

Today, students will be bringing home their September reading log.
I expect my students to read for 20 days, 20 minutes. I know many
read more than that, but this log will be part of their grade. These logs will
be due on or before October 1.

Instructions for your child’s “Me Bag” are coming home today. There
will be an extensive writing project and presentation that goes
along with the items they put in their bags. The students are bringing
home a big ziploc bag.  (I ran out of brown paper bags.)  Please replace
it with a brown bag, if you have one at home, before sending in the 3
items.

Social Science: In Social Studies, We’ll be continuing our unit on the
cardinal and intermediate directions.  On Tuesday, a study guide
will come home and the quiz will be on Thursday.
Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  In math, we’ll be working hard on Unit 1
Addition & Subtraction Patterns.  The focus this coming week will be
on the addition table.

Important Dates:
9/3 - Labor Day (no school)
9/26 - Early Dismissal

Have a terrific and safe Labor Day weekend with your families!
