Week of 3/6/17 - 3/10/17

That old saying about the month of March, “In like a lion, out like a lamb” really holds true!  However, after that amazing January and February, I’m ok with it!! My third graders are starting today to recite the pledge and PV pact for the entire school!! They are very excited. Today also marks the end of Trimester 2. Grades will be updated and completed soon.
Coming up Next Week:
Spelling:  The Menu homework is due on or before Friday.  There will also be a test on that day.

Reading & Language Arts:  We’ll be focusing on our Chicago unit (cross curricular with Social Studies.)  We’ll also focus on comprehension skills using various literature pieces.

March reading logs have gone home.  They will be due after Spring Break.

Social Studies:   We continue reading about the beautiful city of Chicago.  This week we’ll focus on the founding of Chicago, the waterways, and the Industrial Boom.  There will be an open book quiz on what we’ve learned so far on Thursday.  Students are invited to use their Eyewitness Chicago packet and a book, if necessary.

Science:   We’ll be finishing up our Space unit (Chapter 10) this week.   The date for the Chapter 10 Science test is Wednesday, March 8.  We’ll review on Tuesday.  No books or notes allowed for this one!   A study guide comes home today.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  Unit 6 begins on Monday.  This is a Geometry unit.  We’ll be learning about the attributes of a rectangle, making shape posters, and creating tangrams this week.  Watch out for a parent letter coming home on Monday regarding this unit.

Important Dates:
3/3 - End of Trimester 2 and Early Dismissal
3/24 - Shedd Aquarium field trip
End of day 3/24 - Spring Break begins

Have a great weekend!
