Week of 4/21/14 - 4/25/14

First, we had delightful 80 degree weather and then we had snow…   What’s next?   Let’s hope a permanent warm up!!   I hope you all have a wonderful Easter with your families.  This is the holiday where our family serves more of the “traditional” Polish foods such as polish sausage (kielbasa) and sauerkraut (kapusta.)   I hope your feast is as awesome as mine!!
Coming up the week:
Spelling:   Lesson 24; pretest on Monday, test on Friday.   Cursive HW due Tuesday.   ABC order OR 2 challenge activities due Thursday.

English:  We’re continuing our friendly letter writing unit.  Please make sure your child brings a postage stamp to school on Monday along with a name and complete address for someone they may write to.  This should be a family member or good friend.   It would be great if they could receive a return letter from that person!!   There will be a test on this unit on Thursday.

Reading:  We will be working in our Poetry unit this week.

Social Studies:  We will be finishing up our Chicago unit.  The students are working hard on their Chicago brochures and they’ll be creating skyscrapers in the coming week.  You will see it all at Open House!!!

Science:   This week we will be begin the unit entitled “Getting Ready for Science.”  It focuses on Inquiry Skills and the Scientific Method.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We end chapter 9 on Properties & Equations.   Our test will be on Tuesday, 4/22.   PLEASE make sure your child studies, using the study guide and the pages they have not already done in the math book.   This is a difficult chapter, probably the hardest one of all.  We will then skip ahead to Geometry, chapter 14
