Week of 3/24/14 - 3/28/14

This will be our final week before Spring Break!!   Do I still see snow in the forecast?   Let’s hope not!   We had a wonderful “Frozen” marble party on Thursday.  We’re starting the marble jar refill again.   I wonder if we can squeeze one more party in this year?   My students have to be amazing in order to do that!!   Well, they are pretty amazing :)

Coming up next week:
Spelling:   Pretest for Lesson 22 on Monday.  Cursive HW due Tuesday.  Challenge folks:  2 chosen assignments due Thursday.  All others:  10 sentences using at least 10 of the listed words.  Test Friday for all EXCEPT challenge.

English:  We’ll continue our unit on Pronouns this week, specifically, I & me, possessive pronouns, and contractions.  There will be a short quiz on Thursday.

Reading:  Rather than start a new unit before spring break, I’ve decided to truly dig in to our Chicago unit of social studies and “close” read a couple of Chicago books we have here at school.  We’ll also be exploring writing and answering good, “thick” questions.

Social Studies:  We will continue our Chicago unit.  This week, we will focus on the Chicago Fire!   Quiz II will be on Friday, study guides will go home earlier in the week.  Students should be prepared!!

Science:   We’ll continue chapter 10 this week, specifically lessons 2 & 3 which covers the earth and the moon and the planets.   Our review for lesson 2 will be on Monday (open book, of course.)  We’ll then read Lesson 3 and take that graded review on Thursday.   The week after Spring Break we’ll be working on some planet projects and take our test as well, the date is TBD.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We’ll continue chapter 11 this week on measurement, specifically studying time.  The test for this chapter will be on Friday.

Important Dates:
3/28 - Spring Break begins at 2:25!!!
4/17 - Early Dismissal (11:00)
4/18 - Good Friday (day off)

Have a great weekend!   Mrs. Klacza
