Week of 2/3/14 - 2/7/14

Happy Groundhog Day and Super Bowl Sunday! I'll be cheering for the Seahawks since my son and his future wife are now residents of Seattle!!
Congratulations to Simona and Luke who won our class Spelling Bee!
We have an early dismissal day on Tuesday.   Also, please be aware of all the changes to our work load (see schedule below) that occurred because of our extreme weather days.

Coming up next week:
Spelling: Lesson 17.   Pretest on Monday, cursive due on Tuesday.   Challenge activities OR ABC order due on Thursday.   Test Friday for all those using the regular words.   No test for “challenge” words.  (This is the lesson we were supposed to do last week.)

English:  There will be a short quiz on Monday covering Lessons 1-4 on Adjectives.  We’ll then move on to Lessons 5 & 6, focusing on Adverbs.  The quiz on Adverbs will take place on 2/12.  The final chapter test will occur on 2/18.

Reading:  This week, we will finish our basal story, Seal Surfer.  There will be a vocabulary quiz on Monday.  We’ll continue our Word of the Day.  We’ll also go a bit “cross-curricular” and create our immigration scrapbooks this week.  It involves writing and being very creative!

Social Studies:  We will finish Chapter 3, “People Move From Place to Place.”  There will be a test on the chapter on Tuesday.  We’ll review on Monday.   This will not be open book.

Science:   We are taking a science break this week.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  Our chapter 7 test will be on Monday. We’ll then start chapter 8 which covers multiplication and division from 6 through 12.   Please make sure your child is practicing his/her math facts at home!   These are the hard ones!!

2/14 - Valentine’s Day (Parties start at 1:30)
