Week of 1/20/14 - 1/24/14

We made it through an entire 5 day week and MAP testing!   Our students did a wonderful job!   Don’t forget, Monday is a day off in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday.   Enjoy the long weekend and stay warm!!

Coming up next week:
Spelling: Lesson 16.   Pretest on Tuesday, cursive due on Wednesday.   Challenge activities OR ABC order due on Friday.   Test Friday for all those using the regular words.   No test for “challenge” words.

English:  We will finish our unit on prefixes/suffixes and then start unit 4 in our English textbooks on Adjectives and Adverbs.   Can’t wait to watch our new Schoolhouse Rock videos!!

Reading:  This week,  before starting our next story in the basal, we will go cross-curricular!  The students will begin writing their immigration booklets and present their culture day projects.  We are also visiting the lab to find out how to utilize google docs.  This is a wonderful tool for all our future typing of reports and stories.  Students can easily work on them at home, no flash drives needed!

Social Studies:  We will continue Chapter 3, “People Move From Place to Place.”  Culture Day presentations will take place on 1/22 and 1/23.  If you are sending in food, we’ll make sure your child goes on Wednesday, unless the food can hold until Thursday.

Science:   We’ll continue Chapter 12 on Energy.  A graded review (open book/notes) for lesson 3 will take place on Friday.  The test is planned for 1/28.

Mrs. Klacza's Math Class:  We’ll continue Chapter 7 - more multiplication & division, focusing on 3s and 4s.  A quiz will take place on 1/27, covering Lessons 1-5.

1/20 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Bday - No school
2/4 - Early Dismissal Day (11:00)
